Whenever i read your Post i feel Good - The Rep that i spoke to USCIS told me that July 2nd filers has minimum wait till Aug 15th :D

I had an email conversation with my lawyer regarding 180 day portability. She said that the count for 180 days should begin with notice date for safe side.
However the count begins with Receipt Date which is a day or 2 off from the actual application receive date (mail received date).
This is what i got from my lawyer.

The unbelievable growth in India made me explore a bit in terms of investments, ended up with the financial advise and recommendation from experts that we cannot directly invest in equity as an NRI. Only investment allowed it seems, for NRI is in real estate. Not sure whether this is true. There holds the surprise I could not add up the numbers in real-estate in India. Given that, median income in US is 50 times more than India. I thought the Indian cities are up in bubble. Next, look at agricultural land prices.
Agricultural land in Northern part of India is average $50000 - $250,000 per acre (www. 99acres.com) where in east, west and south is about $20000-$200,000. In Villages its about $15000 to $50000 per acre.
Agricultural land in US is in the range of $6000-$15000 per acre. ($12,000 per acre in NJ, $6,000 per acre in California and $8,000 per acre in Florida. From USDA website)
Now You can do the math. Commercial land is even more expensive in india.
The reason, people say, population density. Now lets look at this factor, the density in India is much higher than USA. But, compare to NJ, NJ is actually slightly more densely populated than most states in India. Real estate is regulated by government in India that prevents easy buying and selling and land survey records are not properly maintained which makes it easy to bump up the price.
Can someone explain to me how in the world, the farmers in India who make less than $1000 per annum continue to own land that is valued at several $100K? How many can afford a home in that country?
Is this what economic experts call "bubble"? I believe there needs to be a correction in the market in India to avoid a disaster.

What happens if I get my EAD after 180 days of concurrent filing i-140 & i-485, and my employer no longer has a vacancy for me. Can I start at another job or do I have to refile the i-140. (I'm not presently working for the company yet - Schedule A applicant)

Thanks to the glorious service of the Atlanta center :mad: I missed the I-485 bus by 7 days( Labor cleared on Aug end ). Many people with later PD's got cleared from the Chicago PERM center . Now I just watch as all members get their EAD's and AP's while I wait with nothing but hope and watch legislation after legislation fail in the senate and house , and the letters flying all over the place .
I remember my past by reading your sad story. Though I had different cause for my tragedy. In Year 2000 November my then employer filed RIR labor and I got approval in January 12th 2001 and Same day HR filed my I-140. On January 22nd during companywide mass lay off I was slashed.. Again go through one more lay off in year 2002 with different employer and still waiting for GC(After filing 4th application in year 2003, Rotting in PBEC for almost 4 years)... Best Luck to you.

My PD is October 2003 (EB2 India) and I have always detested the fact that in some states the LC used to be approved very fast. If I remember correctly, the LC approvals used to have a state-wise bulletins prior to PERM and there was a time when in states like Maine, some got their GCs within a year of filing their LC. The majority unlucky ones got stuck in red tape racist states and LCs were moved to BECs.
priti888's LC was approved before December 2004 and she was able to file I-140 + I-485 concurrently in December 2004 becuase EB3 India was 'C' in December 2004 VB (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_1343.html).
The title of the thread if funny (like the Monday Headlines in Jay Leno's Show) - card production ordered!!! July 23th :) instead of July 23rd
LuckyPaji - I don't even want to attempt to respond to his case. His explanantion that he has an undergraduate degree from Punjab is too clean and too good to be true.
Visa Allotment or Assigning of Visas by USCIS - I cannot digest the assumption that USCIS/DOS/DOL are fools and there is no coordination among them to know who from which country has applied for GC under which category. These Govt. agencies are so efficient that they can even go through these forums and connect IDs here to applications. It is a piece of cake for them to find out the entire background of an applicant as soon as even the LC is filed. They very well know who is stuck with which employer in which state and what stage and to whom they are approving the GCs. If the employers are Americans, they can even call the DOL and ask them to hold the LC approval because they know that once their employees get their GCs they will quit them.
I am not trying to be negative and pessimistic, but please think about the chances of immigrants sueing these Govt. agencies during any of the stages in GC process and winning the lawsuit. And ofcourse, the immigration lawyers are too happy with the retrogressions and the way the immigration system works in this country.
